AJW's TaproomFor the previous 13 years, I’ve posted some year-end ultrarunning awards. I wish to introduce the 14th annual AJW’s Taproom Yr in Ultrarunning Awards for 2025.

These are usually not scientific in any means, and the factors are made up completely by me. They characterize a number of North American athletes competing in ultramarathons in the US and overseas. In making these alternatives, I adhere to the factors spelled out within the “UltraRunning Journal” annual awards.

“To be eligible, an athlete have to be a full-time North American resident (no matter their citizenship), or be a U.S., Canadian, or Mexican citizen (no matter the place they reside).”

My rankings on no account characterize an exhaustive research, nor do they faux to be totally consultant of all that occurred in 2025 — so take them or go away them. Right here goes!

Different 2025 Awards

(Writer’s Be aware: For the needs of my Rookie of the Yr award, I think about a runner to be a rookie if 2025 was their first season racing extremely distances at a extremely aggressive degree. Normally, candidates thought of for this award have accomplished a couple of races in prior years and/or at shorter distances, however 2025 marked the primary time they made a major impression on the nationwide or worldwide scene past a single race or two. For me, my “rookie” litmus-test instance is Anton Krupicka in 2006 when he got here out of nowhere and gained the Leadville 100 Mile.)
